Location
Kouba belongs to the wilaya of Algiers (Hussein Dey daïra). Its neighbours: Belouizdad and El Madania to the north, Hussein Dey to the east, El Magharia and Bourouba to the south-east, Djasr Kasentina to the south, Bir Mourad Raïs and Birkhadem to the west. Bordered by the Ouchayah wadi, the commune has gone in two centuries from colonial vineyards to a dense urban fabric of housing estates, subdivisions and village cores.

Education
The École Normale Supérieure "Cheikh Mohamed Bachir El Ibrahimi" (decree of 24 April 1964), the ENSTP in Garidi, a university campus and eight public high schools make Kouba a student commune. Verified
Transport
The Les Fusillés multimodal hub on the northern edge (metro, tramway), a cable car to the Annassers plateau and ETUSA bus lines. The historic 1905 tramway gave way to trolleybuses (1945) then buses (1958).
Culture
The Moufdi-Zakaria Palace of Culture (1984), the Abdelhamid Benhadouga Art and Music House and a long-standing associative fabric animate the commune, which also hosts national media headquarters.
Kouba and its club
